Recently, I attended an exciting event held by photography brand, Manfrotto in the Sanderson Hotel’s beautiful Penthouse Suite, all about using their accessories to enhance your blog photos. While obsessing over the amazing Alice in Wonderland themed afternoon tea on display, I wandered around the luxurious rooms, all set up with styled photography shots, ranging from fashion and flat lays to food. I hadn’t used Manfrotto products before the event, but I was really impressed when I had the chance to play around with their wide range of accessories- all aimed at solving the photography problems we often face as bloggers. As we’re always trying to take the perfect pictures while out and about, I picked out my favourite Manfrotto accessories to accompany bloggers on the go.
PIXI Mini Tripod*, £24.95
Isn’t this just the cutest tripod you’ve ever seen?! Aside from the cuteness factor, the PIXI Tripod is designed to support compact cameras and lighter DSLRs and it’s ideal f0r setting up your shot hands-free to achieve the perfect close up. I love that it’s so small and lightweight so it’s just as easy to use at home as it is to pop in your bag and head out for a blog photography session. You could even throw it in your suitcase to use for holiday pictures or set it up on a restaurant table if you’re a food blogger. You can also combine it with one of Manfrotto’s Lumie Series LED Lights as seen above (sold separately from £44.95-£99.95), which you can find more about below. Overall, I love that the PIXI tripod is so versatile and I think it’s a great addition to every bloggers’ photo kit. If you’re not into pink, the tripod also comes in red, white and black.
LUMIE Series LED Light, from £44.95 – £99.95
I think the LUMIE lights are an incredibly useful tool for getting the lighting in your blog photos just right, especially when the winter months set in. I was kindly gifted the PIXI Tripod attached to the LUMIE light above, but I’m also planning on purchasing one of the lights to use with it for beauty product shots and detailed close ups. The small and compact light is ideal to easily direct your lighting straight onto the products or the scene you’re photographing.
I think it’s a particularly great buy if you regularly photograph beauty products or food as you can use the light to really focus your shots on smaller areas and ensure the detail you need is in your photos. The lights are so portable you can carry them around in your handbag and they charge via USB so you don’t need to worry about picking up batteries. They come in three levels of brightness but I like the look of the mid range version, the LUMIE Art, £69.95, which you can use on the go for both photography and video- perfect if you’re a vlogger!
It’s great to have a bit of fun with your blog photography and I love these filter kits which you combine with the LUMIE Series LED Lights to create different tints and effects on your photos. There’s three kits available including portrait, classic and the multicolour kit shown above. You can use the different colour tints to give a unique look to your blog photos and also bring out the colours of the item you want to focus on in the photo. In the flat lay above, you can see a blue/purple tint has been used to draw attention to the denim shorts in the picture and with the filter kit, it’s really easy to create similar effects yourself. You can use the kit with the LUMIE ‘Muse’ and ‘Art’ lights and again they’re super convenient to take with you out and about.
As bloggers we’re always trying to achieve gorgeous Instagram pics, whether we’re at a blogging event or enjoying lunch with friends (us bloggers seem to love snapping our food). If you don’t fancy lugging around your DSLR but you still want to take high quality photos, I think these smartphone cases, £24.95 used with Manfrotto’s attachable lenses are a great alternative. The cases are available for iPhones from the iPhone 4 onwards and come with a thread attachment to enable you to attach your iPhone to a tripod for hands-free shots. The accompanying lenses are sold separately and are designed to easily attach to the Manfrotto iPhone case. They’re available in a range of options, including a Fisheye, Telephoto and Wideangle lens so you can play around with different attachments to really step up your iPhone photography game.
What are your ‘on the go’ blogging photography must-haves and what do you think of Manfrotto’s portable accessories?
